Lopez and Holgado take testing honours in Valencia

The Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes were in action in Cheste, with a number of new faces debuting in both categories

Alonso Lopez’ 1:33.061 saw the SpeedUp Boscoscuro rider finish the Moto2™ Valencia Test in P1. The Spaniard is fresh from a podium from the weekend, and maintained his fine form on the opening day of the 2024 season. Following close behind was Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) with the Spaniard just 0.013s behind, while Valencia GP winner Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools Speed Up) rounds out the top three.

There were some debutants in the class too, with Moto3™ World Champion Jaume Masia (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team) placing P12, ahead of Australian Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP). Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team), Ayumu Sasaki (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Team), Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Xavi Artigas (Forward Team) all got their first taste of Moto2™ machinery in Spain.

In Moto3™, Dani Holgado took testing honours in Valencia, with the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider setting a 1:37.300 to top the timesheets. The Spaniard had 0.383s to spare over Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda, while Moto3™ Rookie of the Year David Alonso (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) claimed third.

There were a number of new faces testing in Valencia too, with the likes of David Almansa (Rivacold Snipers Team), Angel Piqueras (Leopard Racing), Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Eddie O’Shea (VisionTrack Racing Team) all placing inside the top 15 after gaining invaluable track experience.
