A small tweak to the new schedule introduced in 2023 will take place this coming season as both Moto2™ and Moto3™ see their opening sessions of the weekend changed to Free Practice. That means the lap times posted on a Friday morning won't count towards Q1 and Q2 qualification.
Moto3™ will have 35 minutes, which is then followed by 40 minutes for the Moto2™ grid, where they can solely work on being ready for Sunday's races without the pressure of trying to be inside the top 14. Then, it continues as it was in 2023 with a 35 and 40-minute session on Friday afternoon, now called Practice 1, and a 30-minute session for both on Saturday morning, called Practice 2.
It means those new, Pirelli soft tyres will likely be saved for Practice 1 and 2 on a Friday afternoon and a blockbuster Saturday morning that, of course, features MotoGP™ qualifying.
