Moto2™ and Moto3™ Jerez Test: Canet and Alonso top Day 1

The Spaniard and Colombian were the fastest riders in their respective classes as the first day of Official Test action in Jerez ends

Day 1 of Official Test action at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto has ended with Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) at the summit of the Moto2™ timesheets with a 1:41.136, with David Alonso (CFMOTO Aspar Team) fastest in Moto3™ thanks to his 1:44.356 effort.

Moto2™: 0.028s splits top three

Canet's FP2 time saw the Spaniard pip Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing) and Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Aspar Team) to top spot as the leading trio all stuck a 1:41.1 lap times in, with the latter duo sitting P1 and P2 in the final session of the day.

It's not just the top three that were close though as two Boscoscuro-chassis riders rounded out the top five and were just over a tenth shy of Canet's quickest lap. Fermin Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp) and MT Helmets - MSI's Ai Ogura are the names in question, with the latter getting to grips with his new bike in Jerez having switched teams for 2024.

The top four in the lightweight class were separated by 0.089s on Day 1 as Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) and Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) were close to P1, with Leopard Racing's Adrian Fernandez completing the top five.
