We're just days out from the opening round of the season, and Franco Morbidelli's participation continues to hang in the balance. The Italian is hoping to make his Prima Pramac Racing debut in the desert, and the team have announced he has travelled to Lusail International Circuit in the hope he will be passed fit after Thursday's medical check.

Having made the switch from Yamaha during the off-season, Morbidelli is yet to ride Ducati's GP24 this season after a heavy training crash in Portimao saw him ruled out of both the Sepang and Qatar pre-season Tests. In a turn of good news, the #21 underwent an MRI on March 2nd which yielded "favourable results" according to the team, and now just awaits the final ok from the circuit's medical team before returning to action.
Franco Morbidelli: "I am very pleased to have received the medical clearance to start the season. I am eager to try the bike, to return to the dynamics of the races, and to get to know the people of my new team better. This year represents a significant change in my career, and although this incident was unfortunate, it is now in the past, and I want to look forward. I thank the doctors who have been monitoring me, the people who have supported me during these weeks, and a special thanks to Prima Pramac Racing for their support."
