Gonzalez goes to the top of the timesheets in Portugal

The Spaniard ends the opening Moto2™ session ahead of Arenas and Aldeguer on an improving circuit

With a drying track, riders had tricky conditions, for the opening Moto2™ session of the weekend, with Manuel Gonzalez ending Free Practice quickest ahead of his teammate Albert Arenas in a Triumph-powered QJMOTO Gresini Moto2™ one-two. They were ahead of Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) who made headlines heading into the weekend after signing a MotoGP™ deal with Ducati. Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) was a further 0.161 behind, with Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) returning after a crash in Qatar and ending the session in fifth position.

Moments before the session started, Filip Salac was announced to be declared unfit and will miss the Portuguese GP.  However, once the session started it was Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing Team) who was the first rider to set a lap time, with lap times slowly improving throughout the session.

The Moto2™ class will be back on track at 14:05 local time (GMT) for P1 so make sure you keep up to date with all of the action on motogp.com!
