Moments before qualifying, the MotoGP™ field took to the track in the Portuguese sunshine with their last chance to perfect setups. Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) will bring confidence into the rest of the day (spending most of the session in third), ending Practice 2 fastest after setting a 1:38.720. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) continues to be the talk of the paddock (Acosta will have to go through Q1), meanwhile, the second Aprilia Racing machine of Aleix Espargaro was third and will join Acosta in the Q1 battle. Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) is beginning to grow confidence on the Ducati and ended the session in fourth ahead of qualifying. While Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez placed fifth after the 30-minute session (the Spaniard’s best result so far this weekend).

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) was sixth, ahead of his 2023 Championship rival Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) with both riders earning their spot in Q2 on Friday. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) was ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) who has been inside the top 10 all weekend. Brad Binder rounds out the top 10 after ending the session as the top Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine.
