MotoGP™ Fantasy: Is M. Marquez' undeniable allure too much to resist?

The Sheriff of COTA is back in town on new machinery and looks a very tempting option for the Americas GP

MotoGP™ Fantasy is back as the paddock shifts stateside for Round 3 of the 2024 season, promising a pivotal weekend. Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) currently leads both the Championship and Fantasy standings, yet with the unpredictability of MotoGP™, everything could shift dramatically after the weekend. Let’s take a deeper dive into the Fantasy stats ahead of the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas!

Who were the top riders in Portugal?

After a dramatic Portuguese GP, Martin ended the weekend as the top rider with 44 points while Ducati Lenovo Team’s Enea Bastianini joins him atop the standings thanks to a 36-point haul courtesy of his Sunday P2 and pole position.

Rookie sensation Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) secured his maiden MotoGP™ podium, while Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) showcased his prowess, representing the Pierer Mobility Group as two of the other best riders from the weekend.

Acosta’s weekend performance coupled with Augusto Fernandez’ point scoring Sunday sees Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 as the team of the weekend, while unsurprisingly Ducati are the top constructor after claiming pole, a Tissot Sprint podium and race victory.

Who’s looking good for the Americas GP?

There is certainly no shortage of options to give players an edge this weekend in Austin, Texas. Expect the likes of Martin and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) to fight at the front as per usual, but as the two most expensive riders in the game, they will take a hefty chunk out of your budget.

Binder and Bastianini at 3M and 2.8M respectively offer economical alternatives and sit second and third in the points rankings after the opening two rounds, while Acosta at 1.8M looks unbeatable value considering his breathtaking start to life in the premier class.

Aprilia's Maverick Viñales, priced at 2.3M, could also offer excellent value following his strong Portimao show. After his Sprint success, Viñales seeks redemption for his late podium heartbreak.

And then there's the undeniable allure of Marc Marquez. Despite still adapting to life at Gresini Racing aboard a Ducati, Marquez' track record at COTA speaks volumes, with seven previous victories.

Portugal offered up early encouragement as he took a Sprint podium to build on his double top five from the opening weekend in Qatar, while he once again ran with the best in class on Sunday in Portimao before his controversial late clash with Bagnaia ended both riders’ race prematurely.

Priced at 3M, he represents a considerable investment, but his form in Texas is undeniable, and a visit to the horsepower rodeo may just prove a catalyst to him taking his maiden win on a Desmosedici.

There are numerous options available to try find a winning combination, and you can explore them all on the MotoGP™ Fantasy page.

The Americas Grand Prix gets underway on Friday, with wheels on the ground from 09:00 local time (UTC -5). Make sure you tune in then!
