Riders must comply with the minimum pressures for 30% of laps during the Sprint or 60% of laps in any race distance over 15 laps.
The Frenchman qualified 23rd on the grid and would battle against Pedrosa throughout the Sprint, crossing the line in P3. However, Quartararo was demoted to P5 after the eight-second penalty was applied, placing the #20 behind Pedrosa and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing).
A handful of riders also received eight-second penalties from the FIM MotoGP™ Stewards, including Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing), who will drop from P6 to P12. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing) also received an eight-second penalty but would remain in P13, as well as Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) who will remain in P14 and P15 respectable after the penalty was applied.
