Now in its eleventh year, the award-winning KiSS Barcelona (Keep it Shiny & Sustainable) will continue to help make the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya as green as possible at the upcoming Monster Energy Catalan Grand Prix.
A whole host of different initiatives will allow the venue to offset their carbon emissions for yet another year. Some of those include food donations so that all uncooked food from the teams is given to the El Xiprer de Granollers Foundation, a local soup kitchen.
In the public areas and in the paddock free drinkable water will be available for spectators. Purple Points are set up around the circuit to help promote gender equality, with those designated zones allowing fans to receive attention and support in case of harassment.
The circuit is committed to energy self-sufficiency and, for this reason, it has installed a total of 1,239 solar panels that cover 2,710m squared and generate an energy volume of 0.88 GWh per year. Most of those panels are located on top of the Main Grandstand. That allows 33% of electric energy self-sufficiency, with 100% of the remaining energy used by certified renewable sources. Plus, to reduce single-use plastic, reusable cups will be at all of the bars around the circuit.
Once again, they'll host the 100% electric class - the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship, plus Turn 12 will be christened the FIM Ride Green Turn.
