Ogura leads Garcia on Friday morning

The #79 dominated proceedings in the opening Free Practice ahead of Garcia and Canet

Dominating proceedings at the start of the Motul TT Assen was the ever-impressive Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI), who took the top spot in the early stages of the session and continues to improve. The #79 set a 1:36.458 on his Boscoscuro and was just 0.072s clear of teammate Sergio Garcia, who capped off an unbelievable morning for the MT Helmets – MSI team. Meanwhile, after a late lap, it was Fantic Racing’s Aron Canet, who secured third position on Friday morning – finishing as the top Kalex.

It was yet another strong morning for both Folladore SpeedUp riders with Alonso Lopez in fourth, 0.092s shy from the benchmark time set by Ogura. Lopez was ahead of teammate Fermin Aldeguer (Folladore SpeedUp), who rounded out the top five after the #54 didn’t have enough in the tank to match the MT Helmets - MSI riders at the top. Further back, it was not all smooth sailing for everyone with Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team), Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team), and Albert Arenas (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™) all suffering a crash throughout the session. There was also a returning face to the paddock with Marcel Schrotter standing in for Deniz Öncü at the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad.

However, there’s still plenty of Moto2™ action on its way in the Netherlands. So, make sure to keep up to date with the action with Practice 1 starting at 14:05 local time (UTC +2).
