Moto2™ returned to the track for Practice 2 at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, with Somkiat Chantra remaining quickest on Saturday with nobody able to match the #35’s time set in Friday’s session. It wasn't smooth sailing for Chantra though as the Thai star suffered a crash at the start of the session, which would put the IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia rider out of action for the remainder of Practice 2. Behind Chantra in the combined standings after setting a personal best time on Saturday morning was Fantic Racing’s Aron Canet, who was 0.046s adrift from the top spot. However, Canet suffered a crash of his own on his final flying lap, which put an end to any further improvements. Meanwhile, Championship leader Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) took P3 ahead of qualifying.

There was drama from the start of the session and not just for Chantra with a crash from Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing Team), with 25 minutes remaining. All fast laps would be saved for the final 10 minutes, with Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team) setting the fastest time of the morning and placing P2 briefly in the combined standings before Canet improved.
Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™) took fourth, less than one-tenth shy from the top spot. The #18 placed ahead of CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team’s Jake Dixon, who rounded out the top five. Dixon set a 1:22.829 to end Practice 2 in front of Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team). The Italian finished ahead of the impressive Roberts, who secured a Q2 spot after a brave ride allowed the American to finish in seventh ahead of MB Conveyors SpeedUp’s Alonso Lopez in P8.

Further, down the order, Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) and Fermin Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp) took the final positions inside the close top 10, with Italtrans Racing Team’s Diogo Moreira sneaking to P11. The Brazilian was ahead of Bo Bendsneyder (Preicanos Racing Team), whose time from Friday would be good enough to earn a Q2 spot ahead of Izan Guevara (CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team) and Ramirez.
It is set to be an unpredictable weekend with qualifying just around the corner at 13:45 local time (UTC +2), so make sure you don’t miss anything on motogp.com!
