Best Take Off: Bagnaia blasts off

The Italian's launch from the line in Germany helped tee up a fourth consecutive victory

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) made it four wins on the spin, and a first-ever at the Sachsenring, at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutcshland to seize control of the Championship heading into the summer break. Jorge Martin’s (Prima Pramac Racing) late error handed victory to the reigning World Champion on a plate, but a brilliant launch from the line ensured the Italian was in a position to capitalise.

Starting from the head of the second row, it was the first time since 2021 Bagnaia didn’t start from pole position in Germany, but it mattered little as he got an excellent launch from the line to begin his pursuit of Martin and Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing). Indeed, so impressive was the Italian’s launch, it was voted by fans as the Qatar Airways Best Take Off from the German GP!

Bagnaia now heads into the summer break 10 points clear in the title race, while Martin has three weeks to plot his revenge. The #89 will have his first chance to strike back at the British GP from August 2nd, so make sure you join us then!
