It's a week where reunions are a hot topic, some might say MotoGP™ are all set for their own as the Aragon Grand Prix returns to the fold this weekend. Round 12 brings us back to MotorLand – a circuit nestled into a region rich in motorsport heritage and a venue that, in recent years, has a history of producing some incredibly close finishes between the winner and second place. Let's have a little gander.
2022 – Bastianini vs Bagnaia (0.042s)
Aragon’s latest edition treated us to an all-Italian scrap between future teammates. Having lost out to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) by 0.034s at the San Marino GP, Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) served some payback on the eventual World Champion by beating his compatriot to the chequered flag by just 0.042s after a last lap overtake.

2021 – Bagnaia vs Marc Marquez (0.673s)
The first Bagnaia and Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) head-to-head. The rising star vs the eight-time World Champion. Their iconic Aragon duel will live long in the memory, and that 0.673s margin doesn’t tell the full tale either after the #93's failed Turn 12 attack saw his victory hopes slide away on the final lap.

2020 – Rins vs Alex Marquez (0.263s)
Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) vs Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) was a fight that went all the way to the wire too. Then a rookie riding for Repsol Honda, Marquez was hounding Rins in the hunt for his first premier class win, but Rins held firm to bag his third of six MotoGP™ wins to date.

So in the last three Aragon GP races, the average winning margin is a slim 0.326s. Three superb scraps for the win, now let’s have something similar in 2024 as Bagnaia and Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) wrestle for the overall standings advantage, while the likes of Bastianini and Marc Marquez seek to start reeling in the leaders little by little.
