Round 8 of 2025 sees MotoGP arrive at MotorLand Aragon, so to warm us up for the weekend ahead, why not enjoy some of the classic battles we’ve been treated to in Alcañiz?
We’ve picked out five for you to watch for free… Enjoy!
2014: Lorenzo wins flag-to-flag encounter
Rain is a rarity when we race in Aragon, but a sprinkling of water on that 2014 Sunday added a nice slice of drama to proceedings. Jorge Lorenzo mastered the conditions to clinch his first victory of the season, while Aleix Espargaro pipped Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow in a phenomenal battle for P2 that saw the Spaniard become the first rider to put an ‘Open Class’ machine on the rostrum. Meanwhile, there were crashes for three big names: Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi.
2015: That iconic Pedrosa vs Rossi battle
2015 is a year that is remembered for plenty of reasons, and one of them is the iconic late-race scrap between Pedrosa and Rossi for second place. Eventual title winner Lorenzo clinched what would prove to be a crucial victory, with his compatriot doing the #99 a favour by beating the #46 in an epic fight.
2018: Marquez vs Dovizioso vs Iannone vs Rins
Speaking of epic fights, 2018 offered up a brilliant four-rider MotorLand tussle. A pair of Suzukis in the form of Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins mixed it with title rivals Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso, with the #93 eventually fending off the onslaught by less than a second to collect his fourth MotoGP win in Aragon on his way to the crown.
2021: Pecco defeats Marc for maiden MotoGP win
The King of MotorLand vs Ducati’s chosen one. Pecco Bagnaia vs Marc Marquez at the 2021 Aragon GP was the first proper head-to-head scrap between the two greats. Bagnaia, who hadn’t won a MotoGP race up to this point, beating Marquez on a favourable battlefield for the seven-time MotoGP World Champion was a huge victory for the #63 - the first of 30 to date.
2022: Bastianini beats Bagnaia
A Ducati duel between two Italians. A year prior, Bagnaia battled his way to victory. But not this time. Enea Bastianini, in the colours of Gresini Racing, took five points away from title-hunting Bagnaia with a last-lap move at Turn 7 as ‘The Beast’ claimed his fourth win of an impressive 2022 campaign by a slender 0.042s.
