Takaaki Nakagami will stand in for Luca Marini in the Honda HRC Castrol ranks at the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy this weekend as the Italian continues his recovery process.
Nakagami will make his second Grand Prix appearance of the season following his outing at Le Mans, where the Japanese rider collected a fantastic Sunday P6. Alongside his French GP work, the #30 has been clocking plenty of testing miles as the RC213V continues to make solid improvements – and the Italian GP will provide an opportunity for Nakagami to progress the bike further, while also keeping himself sharp in Grand Prix conditions.
In their pre-GP press release, Honda HRC Castrol confirmed that Marini returned home from Japan during the Aragon GP weekend, and that he’s undergoing regular assessments on his condition. HRC also added the team and the Italian are in constant contact about when a return to action will be possible.
