Full contact: MotoGP's best elbow-to-elbow moments of 2025 so far!

We’re 12 rounds into 2025 and although the #93 is asserting his dominance, we’ve been treated to some wonderfully close combat

It’s summer break time in MotoGP, so while there’s a lull in track action, what better time to look back on some of our best Grand Prix action in the opening 12 rounds of 2025?

The battle of the year

Our first port of call has to be Mugello. It has to be, right? The fight at the front in the opening stages between Francesco Bagnaia, his Ducati Lenovo teammate Marc Marquez and BK8 Gresini’s Alex Marquez was right out of the top drawer. MotoGP at its finest.

Red vs Red

At the Spanish Grand Prix, we were treated to a first lap for the ages on Sunday afternoon. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was blissfully unaware of the Marc Marquez vs Bagnaia battle that raged behind him, as the factory Ducati teammates locked horns in Jerez.

Rocking the rodeo

And what about the first lap of the Tissot Sprint at the Americas GP? #93 vs #63 vs #73, with that close call for Marc Marquez coming in the final sector of Lap 1. Scintillating stuff at COTA.

Last lap fireworks at Silverstone

Over at the British GP, the podium scrap went down to the wire. Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) and Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) were comfortably up the road in P1 and P2, but it was gloves off between Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Marc Marquez for P3. Four overtakes, one lap, 0.017s in it – and it was the red corner who just clung onto a rostrum spot.

The SachsenKing strikes late

More recently, a soggy Sachsenring Saturday afternoon saw us enjoy a last lap overtake for the gold medal. Marc Marquez hunted down Bezzecchi and once he was close enough, he struck at Turn 1.
