Following the Hungarian GP, Yamaha have announced their plans to debut its long-awaited V4 engine at the San Marino GP this year. Test Rider Augusto Fernandez is set to race the new prototype machine at Round 16 of the season in September, marking a huge moment in Yamaha’s MotoGP legacy.
The V4 engine was first confirmed last September before being tested at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and later at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya earlier this year. Find out more about Yamaha’s V4 journey!
Announcing the news on social media, Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, Paolo Pavesio, said: "I have some important news to share. For Misano, we are targeting to see Augusto Fernandez racing our new M1 prototype with the V4 engine for the very first time. This is an excellent preview and concrete sign of our commitment to the future, while we continue to push with determination to get the best out of every race weekend."
Misano will provide Yamaha with valuable race data as the factory are primed to take the next step in the development of the V4 engine!
