The scene of Championship celebrations last year for Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) during the Solidarity GP, the Catalan GP returns this weekend from the iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It’s a big weekend for many on the grid, including Championship leader Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), who hopes to continue his streak of wins and to try and get the title sorted out before we head to Japan in three weeks.
Marc’s title rival is brother Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP); if the #93 outscores the #73 by 10 points across the weekend then he will have options to take the title at Misano. Ducati can also become Manufacturers’ Champions this weekend, even in the Tissot Sprint if they score eight points more than nearest rivals Aprilia. There’s a lot on the line…
As usual, Thursday gets us into gear with our first content of the round; our GearUp show gets underway at 15:30 Local Time (UTC +2) whilst the Press Conference itself kicks off at 16:00. Reigning World Champion Jorge Martin will be present alongside Championship leader Marc Marquez and fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).
Friday kickstarts action in Barcelona with races on Saturday in the case of MotoE™ and the Tissot Sprint before Sunday hosts the bulk of the action. Kicking things off, the Rider Parade at 10:00 before Moto3™, Moto2™ and then, the Grand Prix of Catalonia at 14:00 – but it doesn’t stop there! After the Flag launces at 15:10 before the Press Conference to conclude.
