A wheel hasn’t even touched the ground this season for racing action, yet 2027 silly season is already in full swing, with huge rumours beginning to emerge. According to a report from motorsport.com, 2021 World Champion Fabio Quartararo has already agreed to a switch to Honda machinery for 2027, bringing his eight-year association with Yamaha to an end.
Quartararo is one of the biggest names expected to make a splash in the 2027 rider market - whichever way he ultimately rolls the dice. Reigning Champion Marc Marquez too, although he has already stated his first intention: stay with Ducati.
The report does not specify which Honda team Quartararo would join, but it can be assumed it would be the Honda HRC Castrol squad. As it stands too, LCR’s Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira are among the few riders on the grid contracted beyond 2026.
While the move has yet to be officially confirmed by either Quartararo or Honda, if the report is true... the first major domino may have already fallen in what is expected to be an exceptionally busy 2027 rider market.
