Assen has hosted MotoGP more than any other venue, welcoming the most exciting sport on Earth since its first ever season of competition in 1949. Racing in Assen dates back even further, with the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix marking 100 years since competition first began in the area.

A century later, more than 200,000 fans set a new attendance record for the Dutch GP in 2025, coming to Assen to enjoy a weekend packed full of entertainment both on-and off-track - underlining its evolution into one of the biggest events in the Netherlands alongside its incredible legacy in racing and MotoGP.

Arjan Bos, Chairman of the Board at TT Circuit Assen, said: "This award is a huge compliment to everyone who delivers the Dutch GP. We’ve built the event around three pillars: putting the sport first by providing the best possible service to teams and riders; putting our fans first with the best experience we can offer, including hospitality; and adding entertainment that makes the weekend truly unique — from music, flypasts and fireworks to a spectacular opening ceremony and a podium where the bikes rise on a lift. Combined with our century of racing history and the great names engraved on the trophy, this is exactly what we set out to build years ago — and we’ll keep raising the bar."

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, added: "Assen has a special place in the hearts of many MotoGP fans and it is easy to understand why. The venue as it is today is a modern circuit with incredibly high standards, creating truly amazing races, and its history speaks for itself. We’re very proud to have witnessed much of this evolution firsthand and to see Assen continue to set attendance records – welcoming more and more fans with even more activities and entertainment for them to enjoy. Best Grand Prix is a hotly contested award and we want to congratulate everyone at the TT Circuit Assen, and the whole Dutch GP team, for this achievement.”

The trophy will be presented on Sunday at the 2026 event, just ahead of lights out for what's sure to be another instant classic at The Cathedral.
