Guevara grabs crucial Balaton pole, Gonzalez off the front row

A phenomenal fight for Moto2 pole unfolds, with less than a tenth splitting the top four as Salač and Agius earn front rows

A late lap from Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) saw the rider second in the championship clinch a crucial pole position at Balaton Park, as in-form Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team) and Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) complete a front row split by just 0.035s.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) spearheads the second row of the grid after being shuffled down to P4 from provisional pole position early in the 15-minute shootout; he too is less than a tenth from Guevara’s 1:40.280.

The impressive Alex Escrig (KLINT Racing Team) and his compatriot Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) join Gonzalez on the second row in P5 and P6, as David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) loses pivotal places in the latter stages. Despite being under three tenths from pole, the 2025 Hungarian GP winner will launch from P9 behind Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2).

Less than half a second covers polesitter Guevara to 12th place Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team), the Italian crashing at the end of Q1 and eventually settling for a Row 4 start.
