Bagnaia out of Qatar GP with right foot fractures

The double World Champion will be absent from the grid on Sunday following his fall in the Sprint

Get well soon, Pecco! After what was a promising weekend, Francesco Bagnaia’s (Ducati Lenovo Team) Qatar GP has come to a premature end after a Lap 1 fall following a collision with Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP). Pecco was the innocent party after Aldeguer hit the back of his Ducati into Turn 16, flicking the #63 into the air. The red flag was brought out as the Italian was stretchered away and following examination, has since been diagnosed with two fractures in his foot, ruling him out of action for Sunday.

Angel Charte, MotoGP Medical Director, provided an update on the #63’s condition: “Initial medical examinations carried out on Francesco Bagnaia at the Lusail International Circuit Medical Centre have revealed two fractures in his right foot, involving the fourth and fifth metatarsals. The rider will be transferred to Doha Hospital tonight for further tests to determine whether the fractures require surgery.”

We all wish Pecco a speedy recovery!
