Fernandez withdraws from Australian GP

Last year’s Phillip Island victor will take no further part in Phillip Island final roar in MotoGP

After a Sunday to remember last year on The Island, it’s a Saturday to forget for Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) as he retired from the MotoGP Sprint and withdraws from any further action this weekend. The British GP winner was set to fire off from the second row of the grid for Sunday’s 27-lapper but following a fracture to his right index finger at Mandalika two weeks ago proved too painful for the #25 to continue in Australia.

Whilst the fracture is stable, inflammation to the soft tissue around the fracture and he has therefore been declared unfit ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix next week at Sepang. He will however travel to Malaysia to seek further medical attention and hope to be back to fight at the front.

Get well soon, Raul!
