Marc Marquez out the traps quickest in Aragon FP1, Martin 18th

The reigning World Champion leads Fernandez by 0.035s in the opening stint of the weekend at MotorLand

Top of the tree at MotorLand in FP1? Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team). A familiar sight in Aragon as the reigning World Champion gets his weekend on home turf off to the perfect start with a 1:47.532, a time good enough to see the #93 beat British Grand Prix winner Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP), just 0.035s splitting the compatriots, while it was Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) who pounced into P3 late in the session.

That late lap from Bez shoved Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) to P4, with just over two and a half tenths covering the fastest quartet in FP1 – the two Aprilias sandwiched between a pair of Ducatis.

Elsewhere, there was an early crash for title-chasing Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), with Turn 3 proving too much for the Italian’s front-end with less than 10 minutes on the clock. Then, with just over five minutes left, another 2026 big hitter was on the floor. This time it was fifth-fastest Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) crashing at the notoriously tricky Turn 12, which brought the Spaniard’s session to a premature end.

World Championship leader Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) endured a quiet session in P18, 1.5s off the pace, so the #89 will be seeking improvements in Practice a little later on. That all-important afternoon session kicks off at 15:00 local time (UTC +2).
