11 for 11: Siegert’s success rolls into Assen
The Moto4 Northern Cup returned to action at Assen, where Robin Siegert (Kiefer Racing) clinched his 11th victory of the season, continuing his dominant form. Siegert mastered the tricky conditions, holding a 7.333s advantage over Miro Masson (Junior Black Knights) after another standout ride. Quinn de Joode (Nijenhuis Racing Products) completed the podium, surprising many in the #22’s debut weekend.
Vyskocil launched from pole position, leading the 2026 champion during the opening lap and igniting the first battle (of many) from our season finale. Casper Pennings (MASS SPORTS Racing by JRP Motorsport) was on the charge too, having his turn at the front in Race 1. Pennings’ pace was astonishing too, clocking the fastest lap in the process, whilst Louis Wolff (Kiefer Racing) and local star de Joode got their elbows out in the battle for third position.
Siegert didn’t take long to return to his groove, beginning to apply pressure before the key move arrived on Lap 6. Siegert was into the race lead, with a huge group scrapping behind as Fillin Lorenz (LM-Racingteam), Vyskocil, Tudor Dedea (Tudor Racing), Levi Flier (RN LF Racing team), Domi Pekkanen (DPR Team) and Ruben Nijland (RN LF Racing team) went to battle for the final spots inside the top 10.
Smilla Göttlich (Team Freudenberg - PALIGO Racing), Lorenz and Pennings all suffered separate issues – forced to watch the remainder of Race 1 from the sidelines. Back in the lead group, we had an epic scrap for second on our hands as Wolff, Masson and de Joode got their elbows out. However, there was drama moments later with Wolff and Jaylen Korporaal (Jaylen Korporaal Racing) crashing out in separate incidents. There wouldn’t be any late drama for Siegert, who charged to victory for an 11th win of his campaign.
Siegert’s winning margin sat at over seven seconds, finishing comfortably ahead of the field as Masson and de Joode were left to round out the podium. Missing out on the podium was Zenno Bulte (Zenno58), who crossed the line in fourth in front of Flier. Further back, Adam Vyskocil (AV79 racing team) was sixth, ahead of Jason Rudolph (Racingteam Rudolph) and Pekkanen after a solid Saturday in the Netherlands. Nijland and Anina Urlass (MASS SPORTS Racing by JRP Motorsport) completed the top 10, with an exciting Sunday in store.
Urlass returns to glory in Race 2
Anina Urlass was back on top form at the TT Circuit Assen, winning Race 2 after another convincing ride. The German star grabbed victory by 0.126s, beating polesitter Adam Vyskocil this time around, with the unpredictable Dutch weather causing a shaken-up grid. 2026 Champion Robin Siegert was third, claiming his worst result since our last visit to Assen during our April season opener.
Vyskocil made an incredible start on Sunday, putting the hammer down at the start as Siegert and Thias Wenzel (Team NSA) made their presence known. With some fast names behind, the #79 was unable to create an opening-lap breakaway and instead settled in for a true dogfight in the Netherlands. We had early drama from Tudor Dedea (Tudor Racing) and Levi Flier, crashing out on Lap 4 before Zenno Bulte had his own incident moments later.
The dry conditions suited Swan Emprin (SWAN96#), charging into the lead from P20 on the grid following a tough Saturday. Roman Durdis (FS12 Racing Team) was back in the picture too, fighting inside for victory after starting from P14 on the grid. Danny Hinnkelmann (Hinkelmann DH 14 Racing) and Casper Pennings were the next riders to suffer issues as Sunday’s show proved to be very attritional. Back at the front, we had nine riders scrapping for victory as the perfect season finale brewed in the closing laps.
Emprin was handed a Long Lap for a corner cut, dropping the #96 down to P8 and ending realistic hopes of victory. Domi Pekkanen and William Ruby (TEAMWILLIAM) were the next riders to go down in Race 2, scoring no points in the finale. Urlass worked hard in the final laps, getting her elbows out before launching the decisive move over at De Bult.
Urlass held on, storming to an emotional victory and adding another layer of confidence ahead of the winter break. Vyskocil held onto runner-up honours, leaving Siegert to settle for third and ending his 11-race win streak after a busy day. Jason Rudolph missed out on a rostrum finish in fourth, whilst Emprin finished an impressive ride in P5 – picking up 15 positions. Viktor Cech (ZC RACING s.r.o.) and Durdis were behind, leaving Wenzel in seventh. Ruben Nijland and Jaylen Korporaal rounded out the top 10, ticking off their final chapter of 2026.
Well, there we have it… Seven rounds, 14 races and a stunning season finale bring the perfect end to a record-breaking Northern Cup season. 2027 starts now, as we begin our search for the next superstar. Be part of it; see you there!
