Frost seals R&G British Cup crown at dramatic Donington finale

345 points and eight wins: those are the statistics behind your R&G British Cup winner, Ryan Frost, after an enthralling weekend at Donington Park!

Burrows wins as Frost and Dunabie crash out in Race 1

The R&G British Cup returned to Donington Park for the latest instalment of drama. Saturday delivered just that. Drama. Jack Burrows (Burrows Engineering / RK Racing) snatched victory in Race 1, beating Harrison Day (LRA Moto supported by HV Solutions), who picked up the pieces as Tyler Humphries (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) earned third. There was title drama too, with both Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) and Jack Dunabie (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) crashing out.

Championship leader Frost earned prime real estate for Race 1 – launching from pole position. When the lights went out, Frost made the perfect start, grabbing the lead from his Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing teammates Thorley Trevorrow and Alex Remesal-Lomas. Unsurprisingly, Dunabie was in the mix too, fighting with Marco Holt (City Lifting / RS Racing), who charged from P6 on the grid.

Holt hit the front, attempting to break the lead group as the pace was turned up with Frost also putting the hammer down. Dunabie was in pursuit, setting the fastest lap and looking to keep his title aspirations rolling into Sunday. However, Lap 7 changed everything, with Frost crashing out at Turn 9, making contact with Dunabie’s machine. Things soon got worse for Dunabie, who went down in a separate incident with teammate Luke Fitchett (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) at the Melbourne Hairpin.

There were further incidents too, with Mason Foster (Ultra Whippet) and Thorley Trevorrow (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) also going down in Race 1. Back at the front, Holt continued to be in charge, leading Remesal-Lomas and Burrows, who were also in search of victory. It all went down to the final lap, with Burrows securing the win after Remesal-Lomas crashed out at the penultimate corner – taking down Holt in the process.

Burrows took victory, whilst Day followed behind in second, finishing ahead of Humphries in third. Henry McCartney (Stanford Racing) produced a stunning fourth-place finish, whilst Aeziah Divine (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) completed the top five. George Bowes (A Edwards Racing) finished behind, earning sixth as Hudson Cooper (Rides R Us / NW Racing) and Charlie Cunningham (Charlie Cunningham Racing) rounded out the top eight. Daniel Stephenson (Rocket Racing) and Archie Hooper (AH Racing) claimed the final finishing spots, with only 10 riders crossing the chequered flag.

Frost clinches the title in Race 2

Sunday was a title-deciding day. Ryan Frost was crowned the 2026 R&G British Cup Champion in Race 2 following a stunning ride. With one race to spare, Frost clinched the crown after grabbing victory on Sunday morning. Marco Holt chased behind in second, with Jack Dunabie in third, unable to carry his Championship hopes into Race 3. An epic race and the perfect way to start our final day of the season – the British Cup served up the goods.

Alex Remesal-Lomas launched from pole position on Sunday morning, getting attacked by title contender Dunabie at the opening corner. Joshua Williams (Dunsley Heat Racing) crashed out in the early stages, setting sights on redemption for Sunday afternoon’s finale. Holt and Harrison Day were also in contention throughout the opening laps, whilst Championship leader Frost sat down in P5.

Dunabie had Luke Fitchett and Holt for company, with Frost beginning to make moves – putting down the hammer. Fitchett made a costly mistake on Lap 6, dropping down to P16 and allowing Frost into the podium places. The #24 soon attacked Dunabie, placing him in a title-winning position for the first time in Race 2. The lead group traded blows, increasing to seven riders – all the way back to Mason Foster.

The laps trickled down, and the lap record was smashed once more, whilst Dunabie returned to P1, keeping tabs on Frost behind. It was building towards a Race 2 grandstand finish, with Frost entering second before grabbing the lead on the penultimate lap – leaving Dunabie with work to do as Jack Burrows also found a way through. Frost led the field onto the final lap, holding onto victory and becoming the R&G British Cup Champion in 2026!

Frost’s winning margin was 0.090s, becoming Champion in the process after beating Holt and Dunabie, who stood on the podium. Burrows missed out on a rostrum result, whilst polesitter Remesal-Lomas rounded out the top five. Foster was behind, with Henry McCartney and Tyler Humphries finishing inside the top eight. Thorley Trevorrow was ninth after receiving a three-second penalty, whilst George Bowes rounded out the top 10.

Redemption for Dunabie in Race 3

For the final time this year, we went racing at Donington Park! Jack Dunabie added further silverware to his collection on Sunday afternoon, earning his sixth win to end the season in P2 in the overall standings. Marco Holt chased behind, leading for a good chunk of Race 3 before crossing the flag a mere 0.060s behind. Harrison Day returned to the podium, completing a dream weekend as our 2026 showdown came to a close.

Holt was on pole for the final show of 2026, with the R&G British Cup field looking for one final opportunity to head into the winter with confidence. It was a cracking start for newly crowned Champion, Ryan Frost, who was sporting a striking gold livery for Race 3. A 10-rider front group began to form, with Henry McCartney also in the mix following a solid start from P9 on the grid. Holt and Dunabie tried to put the hammer down, briefly stretching a gap before the group returned to duel.

Frost remained in touching distance, lurking in third and waiting for an opportunity to pounce. The now #1 launched his attacks on Lap 8, hitting the front of the race as Race 1 podium finisher Day followed behind. Further back, Thorley Trevorrow’s season came to an early end, with the #42 crashing out at Turn 4.

In the closing laps, Jack Burrows’ day was flipped on its head, receiving a Long Lap for exceeding track limits. The penalty dropped the #16 outside the front group. Back at the front, we had a modern classic on our hands, with Holt remaining in P1 on the final lap. It was clear we weren’t done yet, with Dunabie charging into the lead – snatching victory in Race 3.

Dunabie was your Race 3 winner, returning to the top step once more after defeating Holt and Day. Missing out on another podium but walking away with the crown was Frost, crossing the line in fourth ahead of Mason Foster. Alex Remesal-Lomas earned sixth, whilst the #7 of Luke Fitchett was P7 on Sunday afternoon. Burrows, Tyler Humphries and McCartney rounded out the top 10, ending a remarkable year.

Well, there we have it! 18 races, four winners, nine podium finishers and another R&G British Cup Champion crowned. We’ve had a remarkable season, with anticipation already building as we look towards the class of 2027. For that, we have to wait, so until then, it’s see you soon!

Congratulations once more, Ryan!
