Rider Story

Taiyo Furusato made a triumphant debut in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup 2021 by winning the first race at Mugello and finishing 11th overall. At the same time, he managed to maintain his high level and commitment to the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, where he did not let a single race slip through his fingers and was crowned champion in Mandalika. As a result, Honda Team Asia offered him the chance to compete in the 2022 Moto3™ World Championship, with a best finish of 14th at the Japanese GP. The second season proved much more successful, with Furusato accumulating 63 points, including a second-place finish in Thailand. He then began 2024 in style, scoring a podium at the Qatar GP, starting 2024 strong in a year which saw the #72 consistently fight at the front, claiming a further two podiums as the season progressed. Furusato continued with Honda Team Asia in 2025 – a season which proved to be magical. At the Malaysian GP, Furusato’s wait was finally over, with the Japanese rider earning his first Moto3 win after four seasons in the category. It was a huge moment as Furusato also cemented his place on the Moto2 grid for 2026, moving up with IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia.
