Rider Story

Matthew Hoyle is the latest young British talent to be given an opportunity to shine on the world stage – he will represent the newly formed Haojue Team on Chinese machinery - joining his compatriots Bradley Smith, Scott Redding and Danny Webb in the 125cc class in 2009. Like MotoGP man James Toseland, Hoyle is a Yorkshireman, hailing from Bradford in the north of England.

Counting Valentino Rossi and Kevin Schwantz amongst his heroes, teenager Hoyle has earned his Grand Prix opportunity with some strong performances in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2007 and 2008. He was third overall in the competition in ’07 and was seventh in the ’08 standings, adding to his reputation with victory in the end of season 2008 Red Bull Riders Cup race at Valencia.

Hoyle’s background includes motocross, scrambling and national roadracing competition in his native England and he was encouraged into motorsport by his father who also raced motocross bikes. His aim in 2009 is to build up his World Championship experience after making his debut in a wildcard appearance at Donington in 2008, failing to finish the race on that occasion having qualified well down the grid.
