In 2010 Philipp Oettl finished 19th in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. That same year he was fourth in the German 125 Championship (IDM) on a KTM. In 2011 he went on to come fourth in the Rookies Cup, whilst again finishing fourth in the German 125 Championship. In 2012 he came fourth in the Spanish CEV Championship, and once again finished fourth in the Rookies Cup. A rookie in the 2013 Moto3™ World Championship, Oettl continued on board the Kalex KTM in 2014 with Interwetten Paddock Moto3™ in his sophomore campaign. In 2015 he raced for Schedl GP Racing on a KTM and achieved a debut podium at Indianapolis with third. The German was with the team once more in 2016 with some impressive performances, and returned in 2017. Often a frontrunner and on the podium in Austria, the German lined up with the squad for 2018 too, and in Jerez he took his maiden Grand Prix victory. A move up to Moto2™ with Red Bull KTM Tech 3 for 2019 is Oettl's next challenge.
