Petrucci: “I am enjoying riding again”

Danilo Petrucci feels almost back to his best as he ended Friday at the Motul TT Assen in seventh as the leading Independent Team rider.

Octo Pramac Yakhnich’s Petrucci immediately seemed to gel with the TT Circuit Assen on his Ducati GP15, ending the morning’s FP1 session in fifth with a 1’34.660, exactly the same time as his teammate Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Yakhnich). The conditions improved as the day went on and Petrucci managed to find another half a second during FP2 to finish in seventh overall, just 0.474s off the pace of Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) who led the way.

"We have started in a good way."

The Italian is looking for his first top ten finish at the Dutch GP and will be heading back out on track for FP3 on Saturday morning at 9:55am local time.

Danilo Petrucci: “We decided to risk a bit more today due to Saturday’s forecast. This morning we used another soft tyre in FP1, which is unusual for us, but the bike is quite competitive. All of the Ducatis are good since the morning; we have started in a good way. I am happy for the time because I am in the top ten, which is important, as you never know what the weather will do in Assen. There is a bit of a gap to the leader, but it is not so much and we are even pretty close to the other Ducatis.  We are happy, we are learning lots and I am enjoying riding again as I am fit once more and feeling good.”
