Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) enjoyed a positive Friday at the Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina after pocketing P5 in FP2.
This was the Frenchman’s first outing on the tricky Termas de Rio Hondo circuit on a MotoGP™ machine, but that didn’t stop him from having good feelings from the off: “The first impression was really good because I expected the track to be dirtier, and more difficult for me to adapt to as I’ve never tested here. From the first laps I’m quite good though.
“I was behind Alex Rins, we make some laps, I was feeling good,” continued the 19-year-old rookie. “On the last laps I think everybody did a time attack and we did it well so now we’re looking to work for tomorrow and also looking for the race pace.”
Quartararo is aware of how tight the times are though, with the slightest mistake potentially costing riders a handful of positions in qualifying if the field remains as close-knit as it was on Friday.
“It will be one tenth can drop you five or six positions so for sure it will be tough in qualifying. We will need to be really on the limit with no mistakes to get the best position possible.”
