MotoGP™ TimingPass enhanced: introducing Live Timing Sync & Lap Chart

Live Timing Sync further improves MotoGP™ fans' viewing experience — particularly for those using both the MotoGP VideoPass and TimingPass.

Watching the most exciting sport on earth and the best riders on the planet with the MotoGP™ TimingPass at hand has always given dedicated MotoGP™ fans an edge and now it’s got even better.

Two powerful new features which MotoGP’s devoted fans and TimingPass subscribers have been requesting - Live Timing Sync and the Lap Chart - are available now, bringing you closer to the action than ever before.

The new Live Timing Sync feature means that at the click of a button you can manually align your TimingPass with your MotoGP™ VideoPass feed or any other live video source - whether it’s a broadcaster stream or digital feed. Now your timing data will precisely match the on-track action in every MotoGP™ practice, qualifying, Sprint or Grand Prix race, exactly as you see it live on-screen.

Previously whether you were watching via the VideoPass or another video source, you may have noticed a slight delay between the on-screen action and the live timing. By manually pausing and synchronising the TimingPass with your VideoPass or live video feed you’ll have frame-perfect control, so data and telemetry match the action on track down to the millisecond.

This means no more spoilers or seeing sudden changes on the MotoGP™ TimingPass before the action happens on screen. You’ll simply enjoy smooth, real-time insights that enhance every moment of every Grand Prix.

How MotoGP™ TimingPass live timing sync works in practical terms

It is easy to synchronise the TimingPass and it can be done in two different ways. You're free to choose the method that best fits your viewing setup.

The first of the two methods is by using Play/Pause controls as follows:

Method

Sync with play/pause

Step

Action

Step 1

Click SYNC OFF to open the sync pop-up

Step 2

Press "Pause" when you notice that the timing screen is ahead of your video. Use reference points like remaining time, laps to go, sector changes, or any on-screen event.

Step 3

Wait until your video stream catches up to the same moment.

Step 4

Press “Play” to resume live timing from that synced moment.

Step 5

Once synced, the button will display “SYNC ON” and changes to red colour.

Step 6

To go back to real-time live data at any time, click “Reset time”.

Alternatively you can sync by entering a custom time delay (in seconds). This method is ideal when you know the exact delay of your video stream compared to live data and is carried out as follows:

Method

Sync with custom delay

Step

Action

Step 1

Click "SYNC OFF" to open the Sync control panel. This method is ideal when you know the exact delay of your video stream compared to live data.

Step 2

Select the "By Seconds" options.

Step 3

Enter the number of seconds your TimingPass is ahead of your video feed.

Step 4

TimingPass will now automatically pause and resume after the set delay to keep you synced and the button changes to red colour.

Step 5

To go back to real-time live data at any time, click “Reset time”

This feature is currently available only on the web (desktop and mobile), with plans to launch it soon on the MotoGP app!

When manually pausing the live timing so that whatever video source you use gets aligned:

  • For Sprints and Races, you can use the race start from your video source as a reference point. Alternatively, the moment a visible rider crosses the start/finish line in the live video can also be used as a reference, or when the number showing the pending laps changes.
  • In Practices and Qualifying, you can reference the time remaining until the end of the session from your video source and check it matches with the time remaining in the Live Timing of the MotoGP™ TimingPass.
