Dan Linfoot was set to start his first full season in the World Championship in 2007, having previously appeared in 125cc and 250cc as a wildcard. The youngster from Knarebridge made his debut in 2003 on a Formula 125cc Aprilia, building himself up for his British 125cc debut in 2004. After a 9th place as the highlight of his debut season, Linfoot was tipped for the top the following season. Riding for a family-owned team, the teenager strung together a quartet of consecutive second places, and finished the season in 4th overall. During this time he also made an appearance at Donington Park for his debut World Championship appearance, finishing 9th and making history as the highest placing British 125cc wildcard. In 2006, he made a number of appearances for Winona Racing, and in 2007 he stepped in for Anthony West in the Team Sicilia 250cc outfit.
