Australian rider Andrew Pitt made his MotoGP debut as a test rider onboard an early version of the Kawasaki at Malaysia in 2002, finishing 19th, before also competing in the final two Grands Prix of the season at Phillip Island and Valencia. In Valencia he took Kawasaki's first ever points in the premier class with a 12th placed finish and he stayed with the Japanese team for a full season in 2003. However, he was unable to improve on his points tally of four from the previous campaign and left the team at the end of the season. He made a handful of appearances for Moriwaki Racing in 2004. Pitt was signed with the short lived Imor team in 2007, competing in their one race of the season.
