Biographie

Armando Pontone, born in 1992, officially debuted in 2006 in the Junior GP Racing Dream trophy, where he finished third. By 2008, he was crowned Champion of Italy in the Junior GP Aprilia FMI category, and between 2009-2010, he became an official rider for the Aprilia Junior GP Team Italia, securing 5th and 4th place finishes in the CIV championship, respectively. He then made his debut in the 125cc category of the World Championship through two wildcard entries at Mugello and Misano. Armando's career gained momentum with a victory in the 2011 Italian Moto3 Championship with the Iodaracing Project. In 2012, he participated in the Moto3™ World Championship again with the Iodaracing Project, and in 2014, he clinched the Honda NSF 250 Trophy by winning 9 out of 10 races. However, midway through the following season, a serious injury sidelined him for an extended period. In 2016, he made a comeback to compete in the Yamaha R1 Cup Trophy, winning the race at Misano. The subsequent season marked his debut in the Supersport 300 category with Giampiero Sacchi's Iodaracing Project team, riding the brand-new Yamaha 300. There, he secured a podium before finishing third in the Italian R1 CUP Championship in 2018 and clinching the title in 2019. In 2020, he finished third in the Supersport 600 National Trophy before dominating the competition in 2021 at the Vallelunga track. Moving forward, he transitioned to the CIV Supersport, Italy's premier motorcycle championship, in 2022, finishing in 3rd place. He spent 2023 in the Next Generation Supersport category before making his foray into the electric class with the Aruba Cloud MotoE™ Racing Team for the 2024 season.
