Crutchlow heads FP3, Dovizioso remains quickest overall

The British rider was fastest on Saturday morning in cold conditions with only 10 riders improving their Friday lap times

A 2:01:866 from home hero Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol) meant the British rider topped the FP3 timesheets at the GoPro British Grand Prix with the cold Silverstone conditions making it difficult for the premier class riders to improve their Friday lap times, with the top six on the combined timesheets remaining the same from Friday, meaning Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) sits top with qualifying on the horizon.

One rider who did improve their time was second place Danilo Petrucci (Alma Pramac Racing), who managed to sneak into the all-important top ten at the expense of Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto Team) to secure an automatic Q2 spot, with teammate Jack Miller third on Saturday morning.

Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) made it an all-Independent Team top four in FP3, 0.210 back from Crutchlow, with Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) rounding out the top five as he and teammate Valentino Rossi set identical times – 0.222 from the top.

Bautista crashed late in the session at Turn 12 when pushing to get himself back into the top ten, with Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) also going down at Turn 12, before crashing again at T14 – riders ok.

The battle for pole looks set to be a scorcher, even if the British weather doesn’t! Make sure you tune in as Q1 gets underway at 14:10 local time (GMT +1).
