Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) topped Q1 to give himself a shot at pole position in Q2, beating Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) by 0.123 as the Japanese rider sealed second on his final run to displace Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS).
Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) threatened the top two but eventually settled for fourth in the session, with Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) starting P18.
