Andrea Locatelli (Italtrans Racing Team) got his Sunday at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix off to a great start after the Italian topped morning Warm Up in the Moto2™ class. He led Championship contender Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) by 0.251 in the damp conditions after setting a 2:23.985, with Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46) P3 on Sunday morning.

Augusto Fernandez (Pons HP40) took the chequered flag in P4, 0.632 back from Locatelli’s time, with Remy Gardner (Tech 3 Racing) P5 – the Australian will launch from a career-best P4 in the race. Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) - who starts P6 for the race - ended Warm Up in P15 on a day where he can wrap up his maiden World Championship.
Federico Fuligni (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2) and Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) crashed – riders ok.
