A. Espargaro handed six place grid penalty following Morbidelli clash

The Spaniard has incurred the wrath of the FIM MotoGP™ Stewards following unsportsmanlike behaviour in FP2 - Lecuona also penalised for an on-track incident

Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) has been handed a €10,000 fine and six-place grid penalty for Sunday's race at the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar following the incident involving lost Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) in FP2.

Espargaro was deemed to have acted in an unsportsmanlike manner towards the Italian, which resulted in the FIM MotoGP™ Stewards giving him the aforementioned sanctions. Having qualified in P10, the #41 will start the Grand Prix race from P16.

In addition, Iker Lecuona (LCR Honda Castrol) was another who was penalised in Lusail. The Spaniard was found to have been riding slowly on the racing line and to have hindered Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) who was on a fast lap in Q1. The Spanish rider received a three-place penalty and will therefore start from the back of the grid on Sunday.
