Mir to miss Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix

The #36 will remain on the sidelines for the next two races, with a replacement TBC

Honda HRC Castrol have announced that Joan Mir will miss the next two Grands Prix upon the medical advice of MotoGP Medical Director Dr Angel Charte and his team at the Dexeus University Hospital.Having been forced to retire from the San Marino GP and sitting out the Austrian GP, Mir has continued to undergo a series of tests at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona under the care of Dr Angel Charte and his medical team. The goal has been to uncover the root cause of a variety of symptoms the Honda HRC Castrol rider has been suffering from for several months, with the recent increase in severity leaving him unable to compete.As yet, the tests remain inconclusive and Dr Charte has advised strict rest and rehabilitative therapy for the next 15 days. Consequently, Mir has been recommended against competing in the upcoming Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix. His condition will be updated after further tests.Honda Racing Corporation will announce his replacement in due course.Angel Charte, MotoGP Medical Director: “Joan Mir has been experiencing a variety of symptoms impacting his energy and performance for several months with a recent increase in severity, the cause is still unconfirmed at this time. Due to their persistence and severity, Mir has been undergoing a series of tests at the Dexeus University Hospital with the aim of reaching a definitive diagnosis. Due to the symptoms, the medical advice is to observe strict rest and undergo various treatments for the next 15 days. Consequently, I have advised him against participating in the Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix. His condition will continue to be closely monitored by my team.”
