The Grand Prix Commission – comprising reps from the FIM, MotoGP, the teams’ association and the manufacturers’ association – met recently and officialised a few smaller changes for 2027.
The headlines are a ban on practice starts from pitlane exit for all tracks in 2027 – something in force across most of the calendar already but now official across the board – and updates to Moto2 concessions.
With the arrival of a new engine spec next season thanks to ongoing development from official Moto2 engine supplier Triumph, each manufacturer will need a new chassis, so the concession ranks will be reset from the start of the season and then re-assessed mid-year.
