In his medical check on Thursday at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) was given the green light to head out on track on Friday morning, pending a further medical review.
In FP1, Martin did 12 laps and was within 2 seconds off the fastest lap in the session, set by Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team). 2024 Champion Martin was subsequently passed fit for the Malaysian GP and will continue competing in the weekend.
The #89 returns to action just six days after fracturing a bone in his wrist in the Tissot Sprint in Australia, attempting to remain in title contention as he sits just 10 points off the lead held by Marc Marquez.
In the afternoon session, Aprilia Racing confirmed Martin was focusing on recovery ahead of even more vital track action on Saturday. In agreement with MotoGP Medical Director Dr Angel Charte, Martin therefore didn't complete the Practice session itself.
