Der BMW M Award kürt den schnellsten Fahrer der Welt, indem er jedes Jahr den besten Qualifikanten der MotoGP™ belohnt – und der Preis ist immer der Hammer. In dieser Saison ist das Auto für den Gewinner der BMW M2 CS, der auf dem legendären TT Circuit Assen von Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) und Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) vorgestellt wurde, als sie eine Runde damit drehten.
Der neue BMW M2 CS wurde Ende Mai der Weltöffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Mit seiner herausragenden Agilität, deutlich gesteigerten Leistung, außergewöhnlichen Fahrdynamik und seinem markant sportlichen Design setzt er neue Maßstäbe für puren Fahrspaß im Segment der kompakten Premium-Hochleistungssportwagen. Der Reihensechszylinder-Motor mit M TwinPower Turbo Technologie und hoher Drehfreudigkeit leistet im BMW M2 CS beeindruckende 390 kW (530 PS). Die Kraft wird über das serienmäßige 8-Gang-M-Steptronic-Getriebe mit Drivelogic auf die Hinterräder übertragen. Der BMW M2 CS beschleunigt in nur 3,8 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h.
BMW M GmbH has reduced the special model’s weight by around 30kg compared to the base model, thanks to targeted lightweight construction using numerous exterior and interior components made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). It comes equipped with forged M light-alloy wheels as standard. This makes the BMW M2 CS the lightest BMW M2 of the current generation.
Binder and Rins had the opportunity to get a closer look at the new winner’s car during a special competition at Assen. This time, it wasn’t only about outright speed on the racetrack – it was all about handling and skill. In a reverse slalom competition, the two MotoGP™ aces had to complete a marked course in reverse gear as quickly as possible. Touching one of the marker cones incurred a two-second time penalty. Meanwhile, the other rider took on the role of commentator and gave live play-by-play of the “race.”
The BMW M2 CS in Velvet Blue Metallic will be handed over to the 2025 BMW M Award winner at the season finale in mid-November at Valencia, Spain. Record winner Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) claimed the award seven times in a row from 2013 to 2019 before in the past three years, now-teammate Francesco Bagnaia has secured the coveted prize. The list of winners also includes Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Fabio Quartararo, Sete Gibernau, and Nicky Hayden.
