Terol maintains speed in 125 warm-up

The Spanish rider, who will start the eighth-litre category race in Qatar from the front row of the grid, sets the fastest lap in the warm-up session.

Nico Terol led the 125cc field of riders in the 20-minute warm-up session ahead of Sunday’s season-opening race in Qatar.

The Bancaja Aspar rider, who will start the race on the front row of the grid after qualifying in third, timed a best lap of 2’08.573 ahead of Esteve Rabat (Blusens-STX), Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo) and Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar) as he got his Aprilia well set up.

Efrén Vázquez (Tuenti Racing) completed the top five, with his team-mate Pol Espargaró – who qualified in second – finishing seventh behind Randy Krummenacher (Stipa-Molenaar Racing). Tomoyoshi Koyama (Racing Team Germany) completed the top eight, with pole position holder Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) in tenth.

The 125cc Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar race is scheduled to start at 8pm local time.
