Espargaro leads delayed Friday practice

Espargaro leads delayed Friday practice

Pol Espargaro was quickest at Assen as third Moto2™ practice took place on Friday. The session, which was held amid mixed conditions, was broken up by a lengthy red flag period following a crash for Rafid Topan Sucipto.

Following an early accident for Aspar Team Moto2’s Jordi Torres, Sucipto lost control on the exit of Stekkenwal (Turn 8). Having landed heavily, the Indonesian was attended to trackside while the stoppage lasted for half an hour. He was taken to the Medical Centre complaining of pain in his neck and left ankle, with a contusion of the left foot being confirmed before the end of the session. The Jakarta-born rider has been declared fit to compete in qualifying later today.

After the session continued, Espargaro went fastest for Tuenti HP 40 with a best effort of 1’39.660, reducing his previous best lap time at the last moment. Teammate Esteve Rabat was second while Marc VDS Racing Team pairing Mika Kallio and championship leader Scott Redding occupied the next two positions. Moto2™ Qualifying starts at 3:05pm local time (GMT +2).
