Kent: “I’m happy with second place”

Kent: “I’m happy with second place”

Danny Kent seemed content with second place as he secured his fifth Moto3™ podium in just six races and extended his championship lead.

Kent was involved in an incredible battle for the race win, with a number of riders. Despite at times being as far down as 14th, he fought back in the later stages of the races to secure second and 20 World Championship points.

Danny Kent: “I’m so happy because this race was a pretty tough one. I did a great start but I knew that it would be difficult to stay at the front all race long. You know Mugello is very special, because you can exit the last corner in first position but at the end of the straight you find yourself back in tenth position or something like that. So you need to ride very clever at this track and you have to be even stronger in some other parts of the track. I also wasn’t worried about being outside the top ten positions for some laps because the gap to the front wasn’t that big and due to the battles nobody was able to pull away. So everything hinged on the final laps, for which I was pretty confident to recover positions. It was a close battle until the line but I could not make the most out of Miguel’s slipstream. I’m happy with second place, because the team did a great job and we extended our lead in the championship in which we get stronger and stronger race by race. A big thanks to my team, to all sponsors as well as to my family.”
