Kent: “We were one session behind our competitors”

Kent: “We were one session behind our competitors”

Danny Kent had a tricky start to the British GP after a technical issue forced him to miss FP1, recovering to finish in sixth overall.

Moto2™ Championship leader Kent endured a terrible start to the weekend as he was forced to sit out the session due to an engine issue before he completed a lap. His team put in a new engine for FP2, and Kent managed to recover to post the sixth fastest time, a feat made all the more impressive by the fact he missed out on 40 minutes track time this morning.

Danny Kent: “Of course it was a start to the weekend I didn’t want! But I can’t say anything else, as it’s always difficult if you lose one practice session. We lost FP1 this morning, which made it more difficult for us as the second session was our FP1, so we were one session behind our competitors. But to conclude this Friday just 0.7 seconds off the pace isn’t too bad. We still have a few things to work on with the bike tomorrow as we struggle with it running wide in some places, so we know exactly where to catch up time throughout a lap. We can be quite happy with the work we’ve done today even though we need to focus a bit more on the front for tomorrow. But as already mentioned it was difficult day for us because we missed FP1 completely.”
