Navarro quickest out of the blocks in Moto3™ FP1

Jorge Navarro tops FP1 at Silverstone as Moto3™ championship leader Danny Kent is forced to miss the entire session with a technical issue.

The Moto3™ riders got the on-track action at the Octo British Grand Prix underway on Friday morning. It was Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Jorge Navarro who led the way by setting a 2’15.568 to top the timesheets. This is still over 2 seconds off the pole record set by Alex Rins last year (2’13.112) as riders adapted to a rather cold (Track Temp 12˚C) but sunny Silverstone circuit.

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Brad Binder was 0.210s further back in second place, ahead of Isaac Viñales (+0.420s) on the RBA Racing Team KTM. Viñales has been brought in as permanent replacement for the rest of the season for Niklas Ajo after impressing during his recent stint as a substitute for the injured Ana Carrasco.

Binder’s teammate Miguel Oliveira (+0.514s) was in fourth ahead of the man second in the championship standings, Gresini Racing Team Moto3’s Enea Bastianini (+0.536s). Drive M7 SIC’s Jakub Kornfeil (+0.549s) completed the provisional second row in sixth.

Romano Fenati (SKY Racing Team VR46), his teammate Andrea Migno, Niccolo Antonelli (Ongetta-Rivacold) and Efren Vazquez (Leopard Racing) rounded out the top ten.

Championship leader Danny Kent was forced to sit out the session at his home Grand Prix after being forced to stop on track before completing a lap with technical issues.

Local wildcard’s Taz Taylor (RS Racing) and Luke Hedger (FPW Racing) finished the session in 33rd and 35th respectively.
