Bastianini: “We can still improve in several areas”

Despite topping Friday’s Moto3™ practice, Enea Bastianini still feels there is work to do at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón.

Gresini Racing Team Moto3’s Bastianini was ‘on it’ from the word go, topping FP1 and then improving his time to a 1’58.875 to end Friday fastest. The 17-year-old Italian ended the day just 0.018s ahead of nearest rival Miguel Oliveira as he looks to build on his maiden Moto3™ victory last time out at Misano.

‘The Beast’ currently sits 55 points behind championship leader Danny Kent, who ended the day 0.362s behind the Italian in sixth.

Enea Bastianini: “I’m happy because today we’ve been immediately fast both with the hard tyres and with the softer ones. In the morning the situation was slightly better compared to the afternoon, because the conditions changed completely, with higher temperatures and the wind blowing in a different direction. The weekend started well, but we can still improve in several areas: now we are going to analyse the telemetry data to see where we can make further progress. At the end of the second session unfortunately I fell after  contact with Ono, who had already closed the line several times while I was trying to overtake him. Nothing serious, but it would be better to avoid certain things during practice.”
