Kent: “We know our problems”

Kent: “We know our problems”

A difficult opening day at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon for Danny Kent, who ended the day sixth.

Many times in 2015 Leopard Racing’s Dany Kent has set a blistering pace from FP1, perhaps his biggest strength this year has been the strong base setting of his Honda Moto3™ machine. With a strong base setting, Kent and his team have been able to focus more on finer details while other teams play catch up, but in Aragon he has struggled so far. A lack of feeling in the front end of his bike saw Kent unable to push as he usually would, producing a best time of 1’59.237 on his final lap of FP2.

This time saw him end Friday practice in sixth and 0.362 off Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Team Moto3), who topped the day. It’s still early and there’s no major cause for concern as Kent and his team are aware of the problems and how to fix them. No doubt he will be back on the pace in FP3 on Saturday morning where the Brit is looking to make big improvements. Regardless, the Moto3™ World Championship race looks set to be as close as ever with five riders within 0.250s.

Danny Kent: “Today has not been the best day to start into a race weekend. Of course, we want to be a bit faster straight from the beginning and to be closer to the top but in the end, we finished in P6. We know our problems well so hopefully we can improve tomorrow. We, Peter Bom, my crew chief, and me, need to look at the data what we can do in order to make steps forward but of course, there is room for improvements from myself as well as for the bike. Anyway, we look forward to tomorrow, we just need to work hard but for sure we will be strong by Sunday.”
